Take your guests back in time by giving your kitchen a back-in-the-day design. Those were the times when the ladies made all of their baking from scratch and kitchens were the most important part of the house. And if you don’t want to go all-out for the design, you can just put in some vintage kitchenware accessories, to give your kitchen a bit of a look and feel. Here are some must-haves that should not be missed.

Old Appliances
While you may not want to compromise your stove or fridge for a vintage appliance, using something like a toaster or a mixes can be the perfect option. Make sure they are somewhere visible if you want them to make part of the look of your kitchen. On the other hand, if you find a vintage appliance that is no longer functional, you can use it as a decorative item. Again, it will probably need to be something on the smaller side, but it will be sure to add character.

A Collection of Soda Bottles
Maybe in the past these were only there to have them returned or refilled, but today, they spell out vintage. Soda bottles can be a great decoration if you are looking to create a vintage kitchen look, plus you can look for the rarest ones, instead of just have the classic Coca-Cola brand on display. Look what you can find, and this could become a fun decoration hobby!

Colourful Plate Settings
Remember those funky oranges, reds, yellows, greens and blues? These are the colours you want to find when you are looking for vintage kitchenware. For a real effect, make sure you are not just buying a retro-looking plate setting, but real vintage – this means they are actually old. A set is your best bet for a colourful but classy appearance. And don’t be afraid to experiment with patters, fruit and vegetable, checkers, and other fun stuff, might just brighten up your vintage kitchen.

An Old-School Rolling Pin
No vintage kitchen is complete without one of those old-school wooden rolling pins. How else would you make all of those delicious pies, bakes, scones and cookies? It might not be the perfect display item, but for the purpose of authenticity, it is absolutely necessary. Plus, they are actually quite useful for rolling out pastry, so it will be a great aid when you are cooking. Maybe get some vintage cookie cutters to go along with this treasure.

Hardcover Cookbooks
To complete the look, arrange some old hardcover cookbooks around your kitchen. Maybe you have some that your mom passed down to you, or you can find some at a second-hand bookshop. These will be a nice accent and make the design look more authentic. They might also come in handy when you are trying to make some of the classics such as raising scones or Shepherd’s pie.

Design can be a fun and exciting process, so go ahead and look for all of the vintage kitchenware you can find to put together the look for your dreams.
